How Did Arlington Students Do on MCAS?

See how Arlington students fared on the state tests.

Arlington students tested well above the state average in all three categories, English, mathematics and science and technology, on the 2013 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests.

The state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recently released the test results. The tests were taken last spring.

English

In English, Arlington students tested 35 percent advanced, 51 percent proficient, 11 percent needs improvement and 3 percent warning failing. Statewide, students tested, 19, 50, 23 and 8 percent, respectively.

Mathmematics

In mathematics, Arlington students tested 42 percent advanced, 35 percent proficient, 17 percent needs improvement and 6 percent warning failing. Statewide, students tested, 28, 33, 25 and 14 percent, respectively.

Science and Technology

In science and technology, Arlington students tested 38 percent advanced, 40 percent proficient, 18 percent needs improvement and 4 percent warning failing. Statewide, students tested, 16, 37, 35 and 12 percent, respectively.
