ReplyNow it is time for the city of Woburn, in particular the mayor, to put this all to rest with officer DeNapoli.
This man has suffered great pain and is due to live out the rest of his life at the level he should have had he not been shot in the line of duty.

Tyler some points in reference to your post:
Payroll taxes on $400 are $30.60. Federal and Mass income taxes (if single) would be about $40.23 without any deductions except the personal (http://www.tax-brackets.org/federaltaxtable).
The employer is paying $30.60 in payroll taxes, unemployment, and workman's comp. Any increase in the rate of pay will also drive these associated costs up.
If the employee is paying $50/week for health insurance I'd like to see the employer's portion it would be very large in Mass where health insurance is among the most expensive.
I've never heard anybody that works subtract "about $60 bucks for gas, bus fair, lunches, a few coffees ( not enough to buy a few beers after work)" from their gross when determining take home pay. Take home is what your check says, not minus everything you decide to buy with your check.
And finally, I don't know any hard working people that work just 40 hours per week. I know hard working people and I know people that work 40 hours per week but they are different people.

The Supremacy clause in the US Constitution puts what is in the Constitution above states' laws. Since the 2nd is in the Constitution how can a state infringe upon it?
