  My daughter and I mostly walked in the street because the sidewalks were a skating rink this morning. Took us about 50% longer than normal to get to Hardy school. I'm in favour of the schools being open but many people are not adequately shoveling or putting down ice melt on their sidewalks.

  Apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere, but is there something specific about East Arlington that makes it difficult to clear the streets after a snowstorm? Or is it that the street clearing resources have been devoted to the other parts of town first and East Arlington gets them last? If the latter, why?

  HI Steve! The point I was (clumsily) trying to make is that people come to AP for news and info that's particular to Arlington. As I'm sure you know, generalized stories about the real estate market at large aren't what people come here for any more than we would for national restaurant trends, stories about the US economy, etc. We already have several sources for that: Times, Globe, Post, Fox News, MSNBC, and so forth. What makes AP valuable is what those don't have, right? If this site starts getting cluttered with non-Arlington news then it'll lose alot of value for readers. Despite! All! The! Exclamation! Points!!!!!! :)

  Moreover, why should AP be allowing someone with a very strong vested interest in the housing market being pumped up (i.e. you) to write its real estate columns and forego any type of objective reporting? Sorry...Objective! Reporting!

  Interesting, but this article shows zero knowledge about the Arlington real estate market and could have been written about anywhere in the US. Since we're on Arlington Patch for local news wouldn't it perhaps make sense to get someone who's got something to say about local real estate trends instead?

  Fabulous. Well, good for those who have their kids just about to go into kindergarten but rueful for those of us who had a kindergartner go through last year (and in years prior.) That's $5,600 I really could have used...

  Instead of just refunding all of the '12-'13 school year funds how about retaining them and dividing them up equally as a rebate for those that have paid those fees since they were instituted? On the face of it that would be more fair.
