Ms. Dorothy Elinor Thomas, 93, of Arlington, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 13. Her memorial service will be held at Christ Church Cambridge on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. Ms. Thomas was born on May 5, 1919, to Ann Ellen (Mack) and Capt. James Monroe Thomas in New Orleans. As a child her family lived in Panama City, Fla., where her father was stationed in the Navy. Her family moved to Boston where she pursued her education and later spent her career working in the finance department of The McLean Hospital. Ms. Thomas’ spiritual life, volunteering, reading, sewing and spending time with her friends and family were her passions. She was always a cheerful and positive person. The intersection is expected to be under construction for about two weeks.
The following is from the Town of Arlington. On or shortly after Monday, September 24, the City of Cambridge’s contractor, Fred DeRoma and Sons, will begin construction work at the intersection of Mass Ave and Alewife Brook Parkway. This project involves removal of the existing concrete median, construction of a new median and plantings, and placement of a new crosswalk across Mass Ave on the Cambridge side of the parkway. This project will take approximately two weeks to complete. General work hours will be 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
