5 Things You Need To Know Today

Arlington High Boys' Hockey, Arlington Catholic Girls' Hockey in Playoff Action Tonight

The Spy Ponders boys' team will face Melrose in Woburn.

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 27. Here are five things you need to know: 1.) The eighth-seeded Arlington High boys’ hockey team will face No. 9 Melrose at 7:30 p.m. tonight at O’Brien Rink in Woburn (55 Locust St., adjacent to Joyce Middle School) in the preliminary round of the Division 1 North bracket. Arlington went 9-6-5 during the regular season, Melrose 10-7-4. Arlington lost to Melrose 7-0 on Jan. 26 in the teams’ only meeting this season. 2.) The No. 7 Arlington Catholic girls’ hockey team (13-4-2) will begin its state title defense against No. 26 Cambridge/Somerville (7-10-3) at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ed Burns Arena in the preliminary round of the Division 1 bracket. 3.) Today is Tuesday, Feb. 26. Here are five things you need to know: 1.) The 16th-seeded Arlington High boys’ basketball team took care of No. 17 Tewksbury 68-52 Monday at home in the preliminary round of the Division 2 North bracket. The Spy Ponders (11-10) advance to face undefeated, No. 1 Melrose (20-0) in the first round of the bracket at 7 p.m. Thursday at Melrose High School. Melrose and Arlington actually squared off last week in Melrose’s own tournament. Melrose escaped that day with a 58-56 win. That was Melrose’s most recent game. Melrose also beat Arlington 59-48 on Jan. 29. 2.) The Division 1 North boys’ hockey bracket was released Monday night.
