Planning to head into Boston for the annual Pops concert? Here's everything you need to know. Jennifer Hudson will headline the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular during the city's 39th annual premier Independence Day celebration. The fun starts Tues, July 3 at 6 p.m., with a concert at 8:30 p.m., followed by more festivities on Wed, July 4 as thousands of people from across the country will flock to the Hatch Shell on the Charles River Esplanade for live music, food, and of course, fireworks. The Oval (the area in front of the Hatch Shell) opens at 9 a.m. Wednesday with entertainment throughout the day and into the evening. If you’re not interested in navigating the crowds in Boston this Fourth of July, you can always celebrate America’s independence at Robbins Farm Park. The Friends of Robbins Farm Park, in partnership with the Town of Arlington, Premiere Roofing & Remodeling and NStar, is throwing its annual Independence Day Celebration, with live music from the John Penny Band, food, drinks and glow sticks and, of course, the Boston Pops Orchestra and fireworks display on the big screen. The July 4th event, which is free, gets underway at 6 p.m., with the John Penny Band at 7 p.m. and the fireworks shortly after 10 p.m. Click here for a full list of area fireworks displays.
