Restaurant Openings and Closings in Arlington, Lexington, Somerville and Medford

A look at the area restaurant scene.

Arlington A Wings Over, the franchise known for satisfying college kids late-night cravings, is coming to East Arlington. Wings Over Arlington was approved by the Board of Selectmen last week for 218 Massachusetts Ave., the former home of The Wing Place and WhattaWing! Read more. In yesterday’s news (literally), Barismo, the tiny East Arlington coffee shop known for its high-quality brews, is moving two doors down to a bigger location, according to its blog. The shop’s new spot at 171 Massachusetts Ave. is just a laundromat away from its current digs (169 Massachusetts Ave.) and will be large enough to handle seating, according to the post. 'Wings Over' Possibly Coming to East Arlington

The wing franchise, a favorite late-night destination at major universities along the East Coast and in the Midwest, is set to go before the Board of Selectmen Monday.

A Wings Over, the franchise known for its airplane-inspired orders, such as the B-17 Bomber (60 wings), could be coming to East Arlington, according to the Board of Selectmen’s Monday agenda. Robert Savin, who already owns a handful of Wings Over franchises, according to a MassLive.com article this past summer, is scheduled to go before the board for a common victualler, or operating, license. Savin is looking to open “Wings Over Arlington” at what is now The Wing Place and what was WhattaWing! not too long ago. The requested location is at 218 Massachusetts Ave., just a few doors down from the Capitol Theatre.
