Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Arlington. 10 Reasons to Shop in Arlington this Holiday Season

Do you need a little extra convincing about shopping locally this year? Here are a few.

Arlington is filled with local shops and plenty of gift options for this holiday season. The Board of Selectmen has approved free parking around town on Saturdays so folks can shop without worrying about filling the meter. And according to the Arlington Chamber of Commerce, $68 out of every $100 spent in local businesses stay here, as opposed to only $43 spent at non-local businesses. Those facts alone sound like great reasons to avoid big box stores and stay in town to shop. But some of us still need a little extra convincing.
