The intersection is expected to be under construction for about two weeks.
The following is from the Town of Arlington. On or shortly after Monday, September 24, the City of Cambridge’s contractor, Fred DeRoma and Sons, will begin construction work at the intersection of Mass Ave and Alewife Brook Parkway. This project involves removal of the existing concrete median, construction of a new median and plantings, and placement of a new crosswalk across Mass Ave on the Cambridge side of the parkway. This project will take approximately two weeks to complete. General work hours will be 9 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday. The following is from the Town of Arlington. The Town of Arlington through its contractor D & R Paving will be repaving Academy Street from Mass. Ave. to Maple Street. Work will include new wheelchair ramps, new sidewalks and driveway aprons, adjustment of curbs, and removal and replacement of road surface. The sidewalk in front of the Senior Center will also be replaced. Work is expected to begin Sept. 20 and take several weeks to complete. Parking restrictions and temporary detours are expected. The work by National Grid is expected to go through July.
Starting today, National Grid will resume its gas infrastructure improvements on Massachusetts Avenue in Arlington Heights, according to the town. The work, which began last fall, will be taking place in the westbound lane of Massachusetts Avenue across the street from the Dunkin’ Donuts at Richardson Avenue to the Arlington Heights bus terminal, and in the southbound lane of Park Avenue, from Gold’s Gym to Paul Revere Road. The work is expected to be completed in the last week of July, and both roads should remain open at all times. However, there will be parking restrictions, so residents are being asked to observe on-street parking and traffic signs.
