The Friends of the Robbins Library DVD collection may be one of Arlington’s best-kept secrets. With a library card, you can rent the above movies (and a plethora of others) for just $1 each (or two-for-one on Wednesdays) and keep them for a week. In addition to movies, the collection, which is on the first floor of the Robbins, also features a number of TV series, including Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Game of Thrones, Mad Men, the Sopranos, True Blood and the Wire.

And for the record, garage rock stinks (as does most rock), but give me multi-ethnic, spicy food any day. Though there are a few exceptions, the last thing Arlington needs is yet another poor quality sub shop or crummy pizza joint run by someone who knows nothing about food or being a restaurateur. 5 Ways to Beat the Heat in Arlington

With temperatures expected to top 100 degrees today, why not go to the beach, a spray pool, a movie, ice-cream parlor or just an air-conditioned building, all here in Arlington.

With temperatures expected to hit 101 degrees in Arlington today, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for all of eastern Massachusetts. Here are five ways to beat the heat: 1.) Reservoir Beach is now open. Spy Pond is not due to high levels blue-green algae. 2.) The spray pool at Lussiano Park on North Union Street is also open, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Just as an FYI, the park has no bathrooms. 3.)
