Off-leash dog bylaw review, School Committee to address locker room thefts, snow possible tonight and a few more things to know this Thursday.
1. Weather: According to the National Weather Service, Arlington could have as much as one-inch of snow accumulation by this time Friday morning. The NWS is expecting a 100 percent chance of precipitation Thursday—rain during the day, snow at night. High temperatures could reach 45 degrees during the day, with an overnight low of 30 degrees. 2. Off-leash bylaw review: The Park and Recreation Commission will hold a public meeting to review the implementation of the town's bylaw regarding off-leash dog hours in public parks. The commission is requesting public feedback to improve its policies related to the bylaw, which has been in effect for one full year. Principal says administrators are seeking solutions but they may be costly.
Administrators at Arlington High School are considering changing locks and installing security cameras near athletics locker rooms, after several football players on Friday had their belongings stolen while they were at an away game. The issue comes after several parents said this is not the first or second time student athletes are victims of theft from school locker rooms. This time, police said students had phones, wallets, money and other electronic devices stolen. Principal Mary Villano acknowledged the problem has happened in the past. “We have so many doors and so many groups using the school, it’s very hard to control who’s coming in and out of the building,” the principal added. “We do the best we can, but it’s difficult to …

Parents of Arlington High School football players are demanding answers and action from school officials, after several players were victims of theft from their lockers while they were at an away game on Friday. According to the police report, student athletes returned from a game against Woburn High School about 10 p.m. on Friday to discover iPods, wallets, money and other items had been stolen while they were out. Several lockers were missing locks, except for one that was found half cut, according to the report. Several parents told Arlington Patch this is not the first time students are victims of theft from the school’s locker room.
