School Committee Now Accepting Applications for Curro's Seat

Applications are due at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 26. The committee plans to select its new member immediately after applicant interviews on Thursday, May 3.

The School Committee is now accepting applications for its open seat, which was vacated by Joseph Curro Wednesday morning, after he was elected to the Board of Selectmen the previous night. Applications must be received by the district no later than 4 p.m. Thursday, April 26. Applicants will then be interviewed by the School Committee at a special meeting from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the committee’s room on the sixth floor of Arlington High School. RESULTS: Curro, Byrne Take Selectmen's Race

Incumbents re-elected to School Committee.

Newcomers Joseph Curro and Steven Byrne earned seats on the Board of Selectmen in Tuesday’s Town Elections, while incumbents Jeffrey Thielman and Cindy Starks recaptured theirs on the School Committee. BOARD OF SELECTMEN In a highly-anticipated race, Curro, a School Committee member, and Byrne, a 24-year-old legislative aide on Beacon Hill, finished atop the five-candidate field with 26.7 and 21.9 percent of the 12,806 votes cast, respectively. Curro, who many considered the favorite heading in, didn’t disappoint, winning with 3,417 votes. Byrne received 2,805 votes, just 99 more than former School Committee member Joseph Curran, 2,706 (21.1 percent). If you think they are doing such a bad job why don't you run. Love it when people like you make sweepng statements like "Feeley continues asleep at the switch" and Byrne will "dance to his tune".
