Roads Getting Slick, Forecast Worsens for Arlington

Storm is making a stronger push to the north and west.

What had been forecast to be a moderate winter storm for Arlington and the Greater Boston area is beginning to pickup momentum and could wind up packing a pretty good wallop. The latest forecast from the National Weather Service is now calling for Arlington and the surrounding area to get 4-8 inches of snow. Snow is expected to continue through the night and a Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until Sunday at 7 a.m. Visibility on the roads is limited and fog is expected to roll in around midnight to 2 a.m. making it worse. The low temperature tonight will be around 28 degrees. There will also be steady north winds overnight from around 17 mph. 2012 Perseid Meteor Shower to Dazzle on Aug. 11, 12

Viewers should be able to observe around 80 'shooting stars' per hour during this year's Perseid Meteor Shower.

According to Astronomy.com, the Perseid Meteor shower has some added bonuses this year: It will occur on a night when the moon is in its waning crescent phase, which means the moonlight won't interfere with your view of the dashing meteors, and it's on a Saturday night, which means people can stay up late and sleep in the next day.
