Today is Friday, Jan. 11. Here are five things you need to know: 1.) The Arlington High boys’ basketball team is at home at 7 p.m. tonight against Lexington. The girls’ team is on the road at Lexington at the same time. The high school’s wrestling team is at Winchester at 10 a.m. Saturday, and the girls’ and boys’ ice hockey teams are at Winchester at 2:10 and 4 p.m. Saturday, respectively. 1.) Arlington-Belmont Crew is holding a Pancake Breakfast from 8:30-11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church (929 Concord Turnpike, Arlington). The Philharmonic Society of Arlington's annual event starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 8.

The POPS! Strawberry Festival and Concert is Friday, June 8, in Town Hall. The festival ($3) starts at 6:30 p.m. with the concert ($15 reserved table, $6 balcony) following at 7:45 p.m. The Arlington-Belmont Chorale and Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra will perform (program). The event is put on by the Philharmonic Society of Arlington.

Family-Friendly Bike Tour to Pedal Around Arlington Sunday

The annual BIKE-Arlington Tour is set for 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 20.

The annual BIKE-Arlington Tour is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sunday, May 20.  This easy-paced bicycle tour around Arlington is organized by the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) in local celebration of National Bicycle Month. The family-friendly bike tour will travel on both the Minuteman Bikeway and local roadways, including informational stops along the way. This year's BIKE-Arlington Tour will feature Safe Routes to School (with stops at Thompson and Hardy Schools) as well as the Alewife Brook Greenway path, which is nearly completed in East Arlington. Letter: New Slides at Robbins Farm Park to be Officially Unveiled Saturday

The Friends of Robbins Farm Park is hosting a 'thank you' celebration for the community at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The following is a Letter to the Editor from Christian Klein of Friends of Robbins Farm Park, Community Events. Last year, we were able to replace our beloved hill slides through the generous support of our members, our community and our town. This project involved a unique partnership between the Friends of Robbins Farm Park and the Arlington Recreation Department, where we each agreed to raise half of the funds required to replace the slides. Not only did we reach out goal, through your efforts, we exceeded it. (The additional funds have been placed in an isolated account dedicated to the future maintenance of the slides.)
