Memorial Concert to Honor Late Arlington Pediatrician

The concert is at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Armenian Cultural Foundation. It's free and open to the public. However, seating is limited.

The following was submitted by Ara Arakelian. The late Dr. Elizabeth “Betty” Gregory will be remembered in a memorial concert on Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Armenian Cultural Foundation, 441 Mystic St. in Arlington. The event is organized by family and friends as well as the Friends of Armenian Culture Society (FACS) and the National Association for Armenian Studies and Research (NAASR), two of the area institutions with which Dr. Gregory held leadership roles over the last four decades. Betty Gregory, who passed away in October of 2012, was a dedicated pediatrician with more than 40 years of practice in Arlington, where she lived. Obituary: Elizabeth Gregory, Longtime Arlington Pediatrician

Dr. Gregory passed away on Oct. 30 in Kennett Square, Penn.

Elizabeth Gregory, M.D., a beloved pediatrician and longtime resident of Arlington passed away on Oct. 30 in Kennett Square, Penn. She was 95. Dr. Gregory was born on April 7, 1917, in Bridgewater, the eldest child and only daughter of Gregory and May Kadjperooni, Armenian immigrants who fled the Turkish massacres in Van, Armenia.   She grew up in Bridgewater and Chelsea and graduated from Bates College in 1938 as the only female in her class to complete the pre-medical course of study. She received her medical degree from Boston University in 1942 and then became a pediatrician establishing an office in Arlington in 1945. Dr. Gregory was a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics. …

Dr. Gregory was pediatrician to me and my six siblings. She made housecalls in the middle of the night. She was so loved that my parents named one daughter (Elizabeth) and one son (Gregory) after her. She was the best! Heaven will be sweeter for having her.   more ›
