The Spy Ponders finished fourth as a team to qualify for this weekend's MIAA All State Meet at Northfield Mountain.
Arlington High senior Daniel McDonald-Meteer won the Division 3 race at the Eastern Massachusetts Cross Country Championships Saturday and teammate Antonio Xelhoa was fifth, as the Spy Ponders took fourth to qualify for this weekend’s MIAA All State Meet at Northfield Mountain as a team. McDonald-Meteer ran the 5-kilometer course at the Wrentham Development Center in 15 minutes, 46 seconds (5:05-mile pace), five seconds faster than King Philip’s Owen Gonser, who finished second. Xelhoa, also a senior, crossed the line in 16:16. Senior Kirby Stoff was next for the Spy Ponders in 25th, 16:58, and senior Matt O’Rourke and junior Gabe Putham rounded out Arlington’s scoring runners in 54th and 71st, respectively, 17:36 and 17:55. Arlington High's Rebecca Robinson had another All-State meet to remember Tuesday.
Arlington High senior sprinter Rebecca Robinson won the sixth individual state title of her career Tuesday at the MIAA All-State Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Fitchburg State College. Robinson, who will attend Syracuse University in the fall, took the 200-meter dash in 24.74 seconds, finishing more than a quarter-second in front of her nearest competitor, Oxford’s Emily Dawidczyk (25.01). Earlier in the day, Robinson had the fastest time in the qualifying heats, 24.72. Resume This past winter, Robinson won the 300-meter dash at the indoor state meet in 39.51.
