BU Professor on Probation after Domestic Abuse Charge
Pedro Lasarte, a Spanish professor at BU, was arrested last week at his home in Arlington for allegedly "bumping" a female victim with brass knuckles.
The Boston University professor arrested last week in Arlington on a domestic abuse charge has been placed on 18 months of probation, according to the Boston Globe. On Feb. 10, Pedro Lasarte, a Spanish professor, was arrested in his Arlington home after he allegedly scratched his girlfriend’s arm with a key and "bumped" her in the ribs with brass knuckles. He allegedly told the woman, “I know where to hit you with these where there won’t be a mark,” according to police. Lasarte was charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon. Those charges were continued without a finding. Lasarte's attorney, Ryan Caselden, said in court that Lasarte had "learned from his mistakes," …

Considering Professor Knuckles was also arrested in October 2012 in Arlington for violating an abuse prevention order, I seriously doubt that he's learned his lesson from this latest slap on the wrist.   more ›
