And for the record, garage rock stinks (as does most rock), but give me multi-ethnic, spicy food any day. Though there are a few exceptions, the last thing Arlington needs is yet another poor quality sub shop or crummy pizza joint run by someone who knows nothing about food or being a restaurateur. UPDATED: Rare Dallin Statue Recovered 30 Years After Its Disappearance

The statue went missing from Cambridge Rindge and Latin in 1980.

UPDATE, 2:40 p.m., Tuesday, July 17 According to the Cambridge Police Department, the Somerville family that had the bronze sculpture was cooperative with the police investigation and willingly returned the sculpture. No charges were filed against them. Dan Riviello, a spokesperson for the Cambridge Police Department, said the Somerville family did not want to be identified, but Cambridge police released the following statement about the family's involvement. "The family in possession of the statue sent an inquiry to an art specialist several months ago in an effort to determine what the statue was. POPS! Strawberry Festival and Concert

The Philharmonic Society of Arlington's annual event starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 8.

The POPS! Strawberry Festival and Concert is Friday, June 8, in Town Hall. The festival ($3) starts at 6:30 p.m. with the concert ($15 reserved table, $6 balcony) following at 7:45 p.m. The Arlington-Belmont Chorale and Arlington Philharmonic Orchestra will perform (program). The event is put on by the Philharmonic Society of Arlington.

Herb Reed, the last living original member of the 1950s doo-wop group the Platters who recently lived in Arlington, died Monday, according to the Huffington Post. He was 83. Reed, a Kansas City, Mo., native known for such Platters’ hits as “Only You” and “The Great Pretender,” was living in a Boston area hospice at the time of his death.
