How is an $8 burger of $6 hot dog at all "retro"?! I suppose it will look reasonable once the Whole Paycheck supermarket opens! BTW, I tried Tasty Burger in Harvard Square. The burger was good, though a little raw inside for being medium rare.   more ›

New Restaurant Approved for Summer Street

See what's moving into a long-vacant space.

A new Asian restaurant with a sushi bar is moving into two of the three long-vacant storefronts across from Summer Street Field. Sono restaurant received common victualler and all-alcohol licenses Monday from the Board of Selectmen in a unanimous vote. A common victualler license allows a business to serve food. The restaurant will occupy the two vacant storefronts to the right of 469-471 Summer St., leaving one vacant space between it and Arlington Cafe, which is actually a pizza place. It plans to open this June or July, its owner, Huanhuan Lin, wrote on his application for the licenses. The 1,807-square-foot restaurant is expected to seat 50, 40 at tables and 10 at the sushi bar, according to the application. It will not have a lounge …

Two Arlington Restaurants Changing Owners

See how much they went for.

A Mexican restaurant in East Arlington and a Thai one in the center are changing owners. The new owners of Zocalo Cocina Mexicana and Thai Moon went before the Board of Selectmen Monday to apply for new operating and beer and wine licenses. Both restaurants received the licenses in unanimous votes. Zocalo Zocalo’s three new owners, Nicolas and Maria Portillo and Jose Landaverde, all of whom own a third of the business, were represented by an attorney at Monday’s meeting. I really love Zocalo, but I kind of wish they would tweak the menu a bit. Keep the old, but add some new? It's been the same since they opened and I have to admit, I'm getting a bit tired of the food. (yes, I love the chicken mole burrito, but how many times can I eat it?)   more ›
