5 Things You Need To Know Today

Tonight: 'Making Evidence Matter: The Role of Science in U.S. Policy'

The event is being co-sponsored by Arlington Community Ed and the League of Women Voters in Arlington.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 29. Here are five things you need to know: 1.) Arlington Community Ed’s “Making Evidence Matter: The Role of Science in U.S. Policy” is at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Arlington High School. Read more. 2.) The Arlington Center Holiday Stroll is this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. See a list of the give-aways, discounts and specials. 3.) As is East Arlington First Lights. 4.) The Fox Library is hosting “How to Read to Your Infant” from 2-3 p.m. today. Read more. 5.) Today should be mostly sunny with a high near 42, according to the National Weather Service.

Director of JFK Library's Talk on Cuban Missile Crisis Tonight

Thomas Putnam will give a talk, "13 Days in October: The Cuban Missile Crisis 50 Years Later," at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Arlington High School Media Center.

Kennedy Library and Museum, will give a talk, “13 Days in October: The Cuban Missile Crisis 50 Years Later,” at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the Arlington High School Media Center. Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist to Speak Tuesday in Arlington

Ron Suskind, author of the best-selling book, 'Confidence Men: Wall Street, Washington and the Education of a President,' will discuss the Obama Administration and narrative journalism.

On Tuesday, April 24, at 7:30 p.m., Arlington Community Education will host “An Evening with Ron Suskind” in Arlington High School’s Lowe Auditorium at 869 Massachusetts Ave. Admission is $10 (no charge for Arlington High School students). Get Fit, Stay Warm: Registration for Winter Workout Program Still Open

Arlington Community Education, a program of Arlington Public Schools, is still accepting applications for its winter mini-term that starts next Monday.

Arlington Community Education is still accepting applications for its winter workout mini-term running from Jan. 9 to Feb. 18. There are more than a dozen exercise classes to choose from to stay warm, get fit and have fun during the coldest weeks of the season. The programs include several levels of Pilates, which uses core muscles to build flexibility, strength, endurance and coordination; Hatha, Vinyasa and Gentle Yoga; Tai Chi; and Healthy Steps, a theraeutic movement program.
