The 'froyo' craze continues in Arlington.
A new self-serve frozen yogurt, or “froyo,” shop is coming to Arlington Center. The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved a common victualler, or operating, license for “Yummy’s” Monday night. The shop is going in at 474 Mass. Ave., the former home of Something Extra, a women’s boutique. The storefront is to the right of Sweet Chili. Ave., across the street from Arlington High School, as well. Self-serve frozen yogurt has …

Power should be fully restored with generators sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. this morning, according to an NSTAR spokeswoman.
With temperatures in the mid teens Saturday night, roughly 150 Arlington homes lost power shortly before 11 p.m. because of a faulty cable, according to NSTAR spokeswoman Mary Ellen Molloy. As of 11:50 p.m., 28 of those homes, on Jason, Central and Court streets, were still without power. Molloy said NSTAR should have power fully restored to the area with generators sometime between 1 and 2 a.m. this morning. Sign up for Arlington Patch’s breaking news alerts.

See what has replaced Jeans Dirt Cheap.
A new business is now up and running in the old Jeans Dirt Cheap space in Arlington Center. Frames…with a history opened at 21 Mystic St., one of the storefronts along the path to the right of the Cyrus E. Dallin Art Museum, last Thursday, Jan. 17, according to its owner Bill Phaneuf. Phaneuf has made and sold picture frames, mirrors, small furniture and home décor accessories with antique and reclaimed wood for about five years at various art shows, craft fairs and artisan markets, most notably the SoWa Vintage Market every Sunday in Boston’s South End. The Arlington store, however, is his first retail spot. “It allows me to stay in one place and be available, be consistent,” he said Wednesday afternoon. Phaneuf’s new store not only …

The aptly-named Arlington Centered, or 'aC' for short, opened Saturday, Sept. 29.
Arlington Centered, a new boutique from the owners of Davis Squared in Somerville, has opened for business in Arlington Center. The “fun and funky” gift shop at 487 Massachusetts Ave., the recently vacated Main Event Tuxedo spot, opened its doors Saturday, Sept. 29, according to its website and Facebook page. The store’s Facebook page has a photo gallery of its colorful interior and merchandise. The boutiques’ owners, husband-and-wife Paul and Melisa Christie, opened Davis Squared five years ago at 409 Highland Ave. in Somerville. They said the new location in Arlington will have its own identity. Main Event Tuxedo had been open for more than 15 years. Have you been to Arlington Centered?
