At a reception held on Feb. 7 at the Arlington Town Hall, Arlington International Film Festival (AIFF) organizers celebrated the entries to their third annual poster contest with Brendyn Schneider, master storyteller, presiding as Master of Ceremonies. Submissions from Arlington High School and Arlington Catholic High School students were reviewed by a panel of judges who winnowed the pool to the top-seven finalists. Representing the Arlington Cultural Council, Scott Samenfeld announced the winner of the contest, Marley Jurgensmeyer, and awarded her $500 on behalf of AIFF. Arlington High School’s STAND club is putting on its annual Battle of the Bands Saturday night at the Regent Theatre. The lineup includes: The Fuzzy Man-Peach-Experience, Trust Fall, Suits, The Best Excuse, Shades of Green, The Chair, and Reverb. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be about three and a half hours. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets are $10 today (they can be purchased at Arlington High or on the Regent Theatre’s website), $12 at the door. The Arlington High bands will be performing to raise money for humanitarian efforts.
