Our bloggers are sizzling with great commentary. Check out some of Arlington Patch's local voices.

Have you checked out some of the posts from our stellar team of bloggers? Here are some excerpts from this week: In light of Valentine's Day, Steve McKenna helps you find your real estate match: "Of all of the homes you search online, all of the open houses you go to—very few will be compatible with you specifically. But if you are lucky enough to find a home that you’re happy with—you will have a lifetime of memories." Recently the USDA passed new regulations concerning the school food programs, and that got Amy Copperman thinking about milk:  "About flavored milk specifically. And about the Arlington Schools, where my two kids attend. I love my kids’ schools. The teachers and staff are fantastic, and my kids have thrived. But I’m going …

Research suggests a strong correlation between obesity and poverty. Check out a recent study by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation: http://www.healthyamericans.org/newsroom/releases/?releaseid=241. I think the fact that schools are often supplying some kids with their best chance at a good meal for much of the year is even more reason to make sure it's as healthy as possible.   more ›

Our bloggers are sizzling with great commentary. Check out some of Arlington Patch's local voices.

Have you checked out some of the posts from our stellar team of bloggers? Here are some excerpts from this week: Amy Copperman is living the good food life in Arlington. And this week, she's getting inspired as local chefs tell us what they cook for dinner at home: When Judy Mintz lost her last "real" job, she went through the traditional stages of grief—with a brief stop at homicidal mania. "It didn’t take me long to get past all that, however, and settle into my new life as an aspiring novelist. I wasn’t particularly lonely, my days didn’t drag. I was productive and had results to show for my efforts. I probably even lowered my blood pressure. What I did miss, was having an income." Interested in blogging? Shoot an email to arlington@…

Our bloggers are sizzling with great commentary. Check out some of Arlington Patch's local voices.

Have you checked out some of the posts from our stellar team of bloggers? Here are some excerpts from this week: A couple of weeks ago, Arlington Patch welcomed a new blogger, Realtor Steve McKenna. This week, he came back with an interesting question: Is Arlington in the middle of a real estate match made in heaven? "Rents are rising and single-family homes are still out of reach for many young buyers, making the multi-family market and the boomerang buyer a possible real estate match made in heaven." Ken Girard wrote about Martin Luther King Jr. day, wondering if there is a lasting way that each of us can help eliminate racism: "Racism is a plague that knows no borders. A plague that needs to be and must be healed for progress and all of…

Check out some of Arlington Patch's local voices.

Have you checked out some of the posts from our stellar team of bloggers? Here are some excerpts from this week: With the holiday frenzy, Ken Girard took a moment to think about the meaning of the season:  "But these holidays—all of them, not just Christmas—are more than families and friends getting together, breaking bread and exchanging gifts. Far more. "Their significance has a deeper and more profound meaning. A meaning that has great implications for all us—regardless of race, gender, age, creed or doctrine." "It’s the recognition that there is an all-encompassing Truth. A truth that is symbolized in many traditions. And for me as a Christian, it’s the Christmas idea of the Nativity—a new birth of spiritual light into our individual …

Even accounting for those who had medical conditions or were at risk, such as smokers, those that were happier lived longer."   Our newest blogger, Amy Copperman, wrote her second foodie blog post this week. Last week, she shared a terrific cookie recipe. This week, she is offering some gift options for the foodies in your life: "So it’s mid-December and if you’re like me, you are still working through your gift list. Check out some of Arlington Patch's local voices.

Have you checked out some of the posts from our stellar team of bloggers? Here are some excerpts from this week: Ken Girard wrote about how a biking in December and how taking a few moments to be quiet can provide much-needed inspiration in life: "In this increasingly hectic society that we find ourselves in, with the huge demands on our time coming at us from every direction, it’s helpful to take even a few minutes to retire into our 'closet'—to allow ourselves to feel the spiritual peace, calm, and inspiration that comes from doing so. And the effects of those moments can radiate outward to every aspect of our lives—including our health." Amy Copperman joined Arlington Patch's blog roll this week, and she will write about food—where to …
