The Trojans compete in the Intercity League, a wood-bat baseball league that showcases some of the most talented collegiate and amateur baseball players in the Greater Boston area. Russell's Blast Launches Arlington Past Visiting Lexington

Left fielder Dan Russell's fourth-inning bomb down Pond Terrace gave the Spy Ponders a 2-1 lead and a much-needed spark.

With his team down 1-0 going into the bottom half of the fourth inning Wednesday against visiting Lexington, Arlington High’s Jonathan Matos asked his teammates, who had yet to get a hit, for a little help while he was walking off the mound. “Come on! Let’s go!” he shouted coming back to the bench. Left fielder Dan Russell must have heard him, as four batters later, with the bases loaded and one out, Russell absolutely crushed a ball over Lexington’s left fielder. Russell easily could have circled the bases, but the ball rolled down Pond Terrace, which is a ground-rule double at Spy Pond Field. Regardless, he gave his Spy Ponders a 2-1 lead, which they would not relinquish on way to a 5-3 win. With right fielder Matt Garcia up next, …

PHOTOS: Boys' Lacrosse Falls to Reading

The Spy Ponders stayed close but ultimately lost 7-5.

After giving up two goals in about a minute, the Arlington High boys’ lacrosse team found itself down 4-1 to visiting Reading Tuesday with less than five minutes remaining in the first half. The Spy Ponders would respond, as senior captain Jake Palmer found the back of Reading’s net, off a feed from junior Wyatt Sullivan, two minutes later and sophomore Sam Cleveland opened the second half with a fast-break goal to pull the home team within one, at 4-3. However, in the end, Reading’s two third-quarter goals, following Cleveland’s, would be enough, as the Rockets ultimately escaped Peirce Field with a 7-5 victory. Palmer led Arlington’s attack with two goals, while fellow senior Sean Sullivan added one goal, one assist. Wyatt Sullivan had …

In addition to the below list, which will be updated as runners cross the Boylston-Street finish line, you can get text alerts for a specific runner here and online splits here.

Arlington's Daniel Leonard Running Boston for Rare Diseases

Leonard will have 20-year-old Christian Jacobs on his mind while he runs the 116th Boston Marathon.

Today Arlington’s Daniel Leonard will be running the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Boston in honor of 20-year-old Christian Jacobs. Jacobs, a nursing student outside of Columbus, Ohio, has homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (FH), a genetic disorder that occurs in about one in 1 million people and causes early heart disease. Homozygous FH is the much more severe form of heterozygous FH, which affects about one in 500 people. For Jacobs, that means a handful of medications and more than a dozen pills a day. “Currently I am on six different medications, two are at maximum dosage, and I take 15 pills a day,” he wrote in his post on Running for Rare Diseases. “Nine months ago it was found that I have severe atherosclerosis in three …
