Nancy T. Galkowski, Arlington's Former Deputy Town Manager, Dies at 58

Galkowski died from pancreatic cancer.

Nancy T. Galkowski, Arlington’s former deputy town manager, died Friday, Feb. 15, from pancreatic cancer, according to her obituary on the Miles Funeral Home website. She was 58. Galkowski, who had been town manager in her native Holden until recently, served as assistant to the town manager, acting town manager and lastly deputy town manager in Arlington, according to her obituary. She left for Holden in 2010. Her career in public service started in 1977 in Holden after she received her bachelor’s from the University of Vermont at Burlington, her obituary states. Hazel K. (Bailey) Roberts, of Florida, formerly of Arlington and Concord, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013. Beloved wife of the late Raymond Roberts. Loving mother of Roy Roberts and his wife Katherine of Florida, Kenneth Roberts and his wife Louisa of Florida, and the late Lance Cpl. Daniel B. Roberts USMC. Hazel was a Gold Star Mother. Chapman was a longtime Arlington resident.

John C. Chapman, beloved son of Irene C. Chapman and the late Carl Chapman died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. John was a longtime resident of Arlington. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he enjoyed building model cars and was a member of the Classic Plastic Model Club. He was very artistic and a talented cartoonist as all his friends would tell you. He loved watching grade Z 1950s horror films with his family. Ouellette lived in Arlington for over 66 years.

Marie Jeanne Ouellette, of Arlington, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013. She was 94. Beloved wife of the late Lucien P. Ouellette for 62 years. Born in St. Quentin, New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Josephat and Mary (Labbee) Ouellette. She was raised in Salem and Chicopee and was an Arlington resident for over 66 years. She worked at Hygrade Sylvania in Salem and later was a seamstress for St. Michael Liturgical Arts. She was a housekeeper for several families in Belmont and Lexington until the age of 85. Loving mother of Paul L. Paul M. Scannell, of Arlington, died peacefully of sleep apnea on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013. He was 41. Paul was an artist -- a photographer, writer, animator, web designer, avid music fan and renowned humorist. He graduated from UMass Dartmouth, was a Hut Master at the Appalachian Mountain Club and had nearly completed his master's degree in multimedia design at Harvard University, where he worked as the Building Services Coordinator at the Graduate School of Design.
