Thunderstorms may develop between 1-4 p.m. across the area.
It's warm. It feels humid. And the sun is high in the sky. That's a recipe for severe weather. The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement alerting area residents for the risk of strong to severe thunderstorms today. Some of these storms are predicted to produce damaging wind, hail, lightning and heavy rain. These storms are expected to develop between 1-4 p.m. Towns along the Mass Pike are expected to be in the zone. "That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region," WHDH meteorologist Jeremy Reiner said on his blog. Paul A. Collins, the Long Island, N.Y., man arrested Friday in connection with the investigation into sexual-abuse allegations at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club, was arraigned Monday in Cambridge District Court in Medford. Collins, 62, of 31 Pleasant Ave., Centerreach, N.Y., was held on $250,000 cash bail by Judge Roanne Sragow. He is accused of sexually abusing four boys while he was the swim coach at the club in the late 1970s, according to a Boston Globe report. Collins was charged with rape of a child by force, indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14 (three counts) and open and gross lewdness. Here are the latest details on Menotomy Grill & Tavern, the new East Arlington restaurant slated for 25 Mass. Ave. Opening date: Owner Billy Lyons, of Arlington, said Menotomy Grill & Tavern should open to the public by the end of next week. “We’re just waiting on a gas connection,” he said Friday. Lyons, who has been in the restaurant for roughly three decades, said he designed about 90 percent of the restaurant himself. “I’ve had it in my head for years,” he said. Chef and menu: Lyons has hired Mark Thompson as the restaurant’s chef. The two worked together at Stoddard’s Fine Food & Ale in Boston.
