Holly Pearson July 25, 2014 at 08:58 am
I was at the State House when Sean Lensniak testified for the bill he was responsible for. ThisRead More young man has it all, he's smart and compassionate and isn't afraid to act on his beliefs. A couple of things have to be corrected in the Patch article, 1) sharks are ALWAYS alive when their fins are cut off not, "in many cases". 2) Sharks who have had their fins sliced off and then thrown back into the ocean, sink to the ocean floor where they die a slow, agonizing death. The shark never "dies quickly". Young Sean Lensniak is growing up in a world filled with murder and greed. The adults here should take a lesson in empathy and sanity from him.

The Nanny state should just ban everything!
Rob C July 24, 2014 at 05:39 pm
Too bad they really have no authority to ban anything in the air. From reading this the beautifulRead More people on the cape just don't want a camera in the air. A remote controlled plane and a "drone" are the same things, one is OK the other is not?
Ron Gee July 25, 2014 at 02:02 am
So adding a camera makes them evil? Why all of the paranoia? Why does everyone think that peopleRead More with UAV's wants photos or video of them, or wants to invade their privacy? I am a photographer...I have a quad copter and a hexacopter. In order to take lewd pictures of someone on a beach I would need to fly within 5 feet of them...pretty sure they would hear the incredibly loud noise coming from the copter as well as notice it hovering a few feet away. I guess I could perve out on deaf and blind girls....but then I wouldn't really need a copter for that would I? The media hype and hysteria is utterly ridiculous over RC multi rotor copters....just because you don't understand it, and idiots call them "DRONES" (for dramatic effect) does not make them evil.

Sadly, the DeMoulas family has been fighting over Market Basket for longer than most peopleRead More remember. I've been shopping at MB since the early 80's...when the old Burlington store still had sawdust on the floor in the produce department...and have always marveled at their pricing and happy employees. Their customer service people really do provide service, and without a roll of the eyes or attitude that you see in other grocery stores. That's all due to Arthur T's leadership. Not to say that both sides of the family haven't made money - they have - and none of them will ever be in the poor house. However, since there's one family member who has rallied the support of the employees and is committed to treating everyone fairly (even his own overly greedy family members), he and his team should be in charge of running the business. As long as a profit.. and the profit is LARGE...is being turned, why should there be any complaints? I just don't get it. As for shopping, I have gingerly gone into Hannafords for the few things we need. When it seemed like there was DeMoulas trouble brewing a couple of weeks ago, I stocked up on dry goods and items I knew wouldn't spoil to ride out the storm. There are certain deli items that we are missing this week...not even the 9.99/lb Boar's Head turkey or roast beef can compare to the Jenny-O and store brand at DeMoulas.

Remember when strikes forced Eastern Airlines to go under in 1991, and Frank Lorenzo lost control ofRead More the business? It appears that the same might happen to Market Basket, if this situation isn't solved soon. Let Artie T, buy the business, get employees back to work, deliver goods to the stores, and bring the customers back.

Humanity has no room for vile scum like this young man. Every Massachusetts resident with a heartRead More and a conscience should be ashamed that they allow this state to coddle its most heinous criminals. Apparently goats don't react to poison ivy. If they do this is a very bad idea.
Bryant Hopkins July 24, 2014 at 10:06 am
Goats LOVE poison ivy! They chew the stuff all day long, then later on leave "fertilizer"Read More behind so that more desirable plants can grow where the poison ivy grew. It is great for the goats and for those of us (roughly 1 in 7 people) who are extra sensitive to the "leaves of three". Just don't pet goats working over a poison ivy patch, as the urushiol oils (the "poison" in poison ivy) that come in contact with the goats will not harm the goats but will get onto whomever comes in contact with the goats. Sadly, poison ivy is one plant that will benefit from climate change in the coming years, so here one issue that tree huggers and climate change deniers who hate poison ivy can agree upon - WE NEED MORE GOATS!
Sunny July 24, 2014 at 03:51 pm
Chelmsford should rent some goats to take care of invasive plants growing up the telephone poles andRead More around the fire hydrants. Concord has used goats very successfully. There is a lot of inch by inch plants in Chelmsford. Chop the plant close to roots and pour a couple drops of vinegar. Pull down the rest of vine.

lol...I was wondering same thing, Keith Lucy; why would anyone care who gets their blood, as long asRead More they NEED it. Here's one for you on-the-fencers; a veteran nurse once told me that one pint of blood can service up to FIVE (5) premature babies. That should be enough fodder to push you into a Red Cross blood drive.
David July 24, 2014 at 09:05 pm
The point...Keith and sph...is that this patch crap posts the same stuff regional. RI gets its bloodRead More from the RI Blood Center and when Red Cross swoops in the blood goes anywhere. RI ends up with shortages and the needs here get tight. I don't care who gets the blood and encourage any able bodied person to donate. That was an FYI for anyone from RI reading this post that may think that they are helping in RI when they are not. And yes...when Mass calls for blood from the RI Blood Center and they are able to they send it. Same goes for when people donate after a tragedy thinking they are directly helping. They are not. A lot of the blood ends up going bad because they get too much. If called they will always ask you to donate year round and avoid the urge to 'help' during a tragedy. Just call and ask and they will tell you that...ANY blood center.
