Board of Selectmen
Board of Selectmen consists of five members, who are elected for a three-year term. The board is responsible for adopting town policies, as well as reviewing and setting guidelines for the annual operating budget and capital improvements program for the financial year. It also acts as the Licensing Board, and issues and renews licenses for more than 20 categories, including common victualler, food vendor, liquor, lodging house, open-air parking lot, inflammables, special events and entertainment.
The board also appoints the Town Manager, who is responsible for the daily management of the town. Its office is located at Town Hall, second floor, 730 Mass. Ave. and can be reached at 781-316-3020. Board of Health
Board of Health has three members who are elected by the town manager. The board regulates the working of tanning salons, tattoo parlors, food establishments, and conducts vaccination clinics in the town to maintain the health of the general public of the town.

Conservation Commission
Conservation Commission works towards the promotion and development of the natural resources, as well as the protection of watershed resources in the town. The commission meets on the first and third Thursday of the month in the Town Hall, second floor, 730 Mass. Ave. In certain cases, the commission meets on the second and fourth Thursday of the month as well.

Cemetery Commission
Cemetery Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Chapel. More information on the commission is available here.
Disability Commission
Disability Commission is responsible for providing information, referral, guidance and technical assistance to ensure that people with physical, sensory, cognitive and other disabilities have equal access to town facilities, services and programs. Arlington Historical Commission
Arlington Historical Commission (AHC) is responsible for preserving and protecting significant buildings within the town that constitute or reflect distinctive features of the architectural, cultural, political, economic or social history of the town. It was established in 1970, and is an advocate for historic preservation in Arlington, including working for historic preservation in planning and development for the community.

Arlington Historic Districts Commission
Arlington Historic Districts Commission was created to protect and preserve the historic resources of the commonwealth through a local review system that encourages and ensures compatible improvement as well as development. The commission meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at Whittemore Robbins House, 670R Massachusetts Ave.

Arlington Human Rights Commission
Arlington Human Rights Commission (AHRC) is responsible for advancing issues related to the fair and equal treatment of individuals, and to create a mechanism for addressing complaints arising out of these issues. It was established in 1993, and works individually and collaboratively with other groups in the community to celebrate the ever-changing tapestry of the Town of Arlington, and educate on the danger of intolerance at every level, through educational outreach. Library Board of Trustees
Library Board of Trustees has seven members, of whom one member is appointed for a one-year term, two members for a two-year term, and four members for a three-year term. These members are appointed by the Town Manager on approval from the Board of Selectmen.
Parks & Recreation Commission
Parks & Recreation Commission has five members, out of whom, one member is elected for a one-year term, two for a two-year term and two for a three-year term. More information on the commission is available here.
Board of Youth Services
Board of Youth Services is formed to assist in the prevention, treatment and control of problems relating to the children and youth of the town, and to advise and assist public and private agencies concerned with such matters. Zoning Board of Appeals
Zoning Board of Appeals hears and decides applications for special permits and petitions for variances from the terms of the zoning bylaws, site plan approvals as mandated by the zoning ordinance and appeals from decisions of the Zoning Enforcement officer (Building commissioner).
