A ball girl at the Boston Red Sox-Kansas City Royals game on Friday thought she was just doing her job.
The Royals' Eric Hosmer hit a shot down the first base line toward the ball girl who deftly scooped up the ball until she realized it was a fair ball. She sheepishly dropped the ball, but it was too late.
The umpire called a ground rule double.
The ball girl made an "oops" face and reportedly told nearby fans, "I'll probably get fired."
