Senior Claire Doyle led all Spy Ponders with a second-place finish.

The Arlington High girls’ cross country team lost at undefeated Belmont Thursday, despite strong runs from senior Claire Doyle and juniors Josie Jacob-Dolan and Kira Fullerton.

Doyle finished second behind Belmont’s freshman standout, Leah Brams. Both runners broke Brams’ old record of 20:58 on the 5-kilometer course at Belmont’s Clay Pit Pond.

Jacob-Dolan (22:23) and Kira Fullerton (22:51) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

The boys’ team also lost, 20-37. The team was running less experienced varsity and junior varsity runners due to a scheduling mix-up.
