New in Town: Saturday Night Lights Flag Football

A new flag football league is starting in Arlington.

Saturday Night Lights Flag Football will run every Saturday from Sept. 21-Oct. 25 at Peirce Field (behind Arlington High School).

Here are the age-group times:

  • Challenger (children with special needs), arrive 4 p.m., game time 4:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Grades K-2, arrive 4 p.m., game time 4:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Grades 3-4, arrive 5 p.m., game time 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Grades 5-6, arrive 6 p.m., game time 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Grades 7-9, arrive 7 p.m., game time 7:30-8:30 p.m.

Teams will have 8-10 players, and the cost of the league is $120 per child.

Teams will be developed week one, followed by five weeks of games. In the interest of keeping teams balanced, no team requests will be taken.

One mouth guard will be provided to each child, and they must be worn during games. Players will also receive a game shirt and playbook.

The league is run by Jim Murphy, Merrimack College’s head football coach and a former New England Patriots practice squad player.
