MIAA Warns Students About Man on Facebook

The high school sports organization issued a 'student safety advisory' Wednesday.

The MIAA alerted students Wednesday to a man named “Manny Whelan” on Facebook who has been offering student-athletes money to compete in an “underground wrestling club” at local hotels.

The Massachusetts high school sports organization posted a “student safety advisory” on its homepage.

“It has come to our attention that this person has been contacting local male student-athletes for at least two years. This may not be exclusive to wrestling, so please inform ALL of your coaches, parents, and students,” the advisory reads.
