2 Arlington Catholic Girls’ Teams Headed to TD Garden

Both teams are in the running for state championships.

The Arlington Catholic girls’ basketball and hockey teams are vying for state championships, and their next games are on the Boston Celtics home floor and Bruins home ice, respectively, at the TD Garden.

After defeating Watertown 42-35 to take the North Division 1 bracket, the girls’ basketball team (20-4) will face South champ, undefeated Duxbury (24-0) in the Division 2 state semifinals at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, at the TD Garden.

The other semifinal is Central champ Nashoba vs. West champ Longmeadow.

The No. 3 seed girls’ hockey team (19-2-2) has already advanced to the Division 1 state final and will face No. 5 Duxbury (16-1-6) on Sunday, March 16, at the TD Garden (time TBD).

Duxbury is the three-time defending Division 2 state champion and moved up to Division 1 this season. Arlington Catholic was Division 1 runner-up last year and champ in 2012.
