New Eatery Set to Replace Loukoumaki Bakery

See who's moving in.

A new eatery named after the Middle Eastern spice mixture Za’atar is moving into the former Loukoumaki Bakery space at 916 Mass. Ave. in Arlington.

Loukoumaki, which was at the corner of Mass. Ave. and Highland Avenue, across from Stop & Shop, closed fairly recently.

Andre Stepanian, originally from Lebanon, is behind Za’atar. He’s going for an operating license Monday night at the Arlington Board of Selectmen’s meeting, according to the agenda.

According to his Facebook page, Stepanian used to own Jopatou Future Maman, a clothing store for pregnant women.

We’ll have more details on Za’atar after Monday’s meeting.
