The Arlington High bands will be performing to raise money for humanitarian efforts. The STAND club stands for “Students Taking Action Now: Darfur.” The club organizes various events to educate students on the genocide in Darfur, as well as the new country of South Sudan and the political turmoil that takes place there.

Half of the proceeds will be donated to the Umzingizi Foundation, which will use the money for electricity, plumbing and much needed sanitation supplies to build a room for a daycare in a slum outside of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Money will also go to the Valentino Achak Deng Foundation, which builds schools, community centers and pay teachers in South Sudan.
