Two Arlington High Principal Finalists Meeting with Community This Evening

The meetings will take place in the high school's media center from 6:30-8:15 p.m.

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 13. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) Two of the four finalists in the Arlington High School principal search will meet with the community this evening. Matthew Janger, the principal of Mount Desert Island High School in Bar Harbor, Maine, will be available from 6:30-7:15 p.m. in the high school’s media center. Debra Heaton, the acting principal at Marblehead High School, will be there from 7:30-8:15 p.m. The other two finalists, Matthew Poska and Shirley Lundberg, met with the community Tuesday evening. Poska is the principal of Briscoe Middle School in Beverly. Lundberg is the director of academics at Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough.

2.) The high school’s model congress team won three awards this past weekend at the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious model congress competition in Philadelphia. Read more.

3.) The Arlington High boys’ hockey team will host Winchester at 6 p.m. at the Ed Burns Arena, the girls’ team will follow against Winchester at 8 p.m.

4.) The parking ban in East Arlington is still in effect until further notice. The ban applies to all roads east of Route 60, except for Mass. Ave. and Broadway.

5.) Today should be sunny with a high near 44, according to the National Weather Service. However, there is a chance of snow late tonight, but little to no snow is expected to accumulate.
