The Arlington Public Schools announced today that Karen Donato has accepted the position of Principal of Thompson Elementary School. Ms. Donato will officially assume her responsibilities as Principal on July 1, 2014.

Ms. Donato is currently the Assistant Principal of The Center School in Stow, Massachusetts, a Pre-K-5 school of 600 students in the Nashoba Regional School District, which opened as a new school in September 2012. Prior to the opening of the new school, Ms. Donato oversaw the daily operations of both the grades K-3 and 4-5 facilities that were combined in the new building. Ms. Donato also served in the Andover Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher at the Wood Hill Middle School and then as a Learning Specialist at the South Elementary School. Prior to Andover, she was a Special Education Inclusion Kindergarten Teacher and K-2 Functional Life Skills Teacher in the Medford Public Schools.

Ms. Donato holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Cambridge College, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from Salem State College and a Bachelor of Arts from Providence College in Elementary/Special Education.

"We are very happy to welcome Ms. Donato to the Arlington Public Schools. Her experience in educational leadership, special education, and teaching, as well as the opening of a new school, has  prepared her well to be the leader of Thompson’s dynamic educational community," said Dr. Kathleen Bodie, Superintendent of Schools.

Hokey Wolf, how about leaving a comment that actually pertains to the story, rather than using every new story as a chance to spout more empty rhetoric? Move on man, your constant negativity makes everything you write easy to dismiss out of hand...
