Interim Principal Hired for Dallin

Eileen Driscoll Woods, a retired Andover principal and assistant superintendent, will lead Dallin Elementary School during the 2012-13 school year.

The Arlington Public Schools recently announced that Eileen Driscoll Woods, formerly with the Andover Public Schools, has accepted the position of Interim Principal at the .

Woods comes to Arlington after having retired from a distinguished career in Andover where she was principal at both the South and Sanborn schools, and spent a year serving as assistant superintendent.  While heading the Sanborn School she prepared the proposal that led to Blue Ribbon School designation in 1991. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is part of an effort by the US Department of Education to identify and share knowledge about exceptional school leadership and teaching practices. Arlington’s achieved this distinction in 2010.

In 1998, Woods was named Massachusetts Principal of the Year, an award presented annually by the Massachusetts Elementary Schools Principals Association. The award recognizes those principals who have demonstrated clear leadership in developing successful programs for children and teachers, exceptional dedication to education, outstanding professionalism and an unselfish attitude toward helping others.

Woods received her doctorate at Nova Southeastern University and holds a Master of Education in School Administration from the University of Massachusetts. Her undergraduate degree is from Boston College. She also holds a National Board Certification in Mentoring Principals.
