Wellness Coordinators are the educational leaders from MIAA member schools and middle schools who have been delegated to promote wellness at the local level. Ms. Bouvier has served Arlington Public Schools in this capacity for the past 6 years, directing the district's efforts in serving at-risk students, and initiating programs such as health fairs, luncheon discussions, and the after-school fitness center.  Her collaboration with the Arlington Youth Health and Safety Coalition has led to programs that support students in a variety of ways. One example is the Transition Program which ensures that students returning after extended absences from hospitalization or serious personal circumstances receive the additional academic and emotional support they need.

"We are extremely proud of the work Cindy has done to assist our community in understanding the various dimensions of health and wellness, " said Dr. Kathleen Bodie, Superintendent of Schools. "Her chairmanship of committees such as the Safe Schools Task Force, The Health Advisory Council, Parent Forum Committee, The Bullying Prevention Task Force, and The Wellness Policy Committee has led to the dissemination of information and creation of policies that affect students, staff and parents. We are delighted to see her good work recognized by the MIAA."

Ms. Bouvier's responsibilities include supervision of Health, Physical Education, Guidance & Counseling and Nursing.  She also serves the district as the 504 Coordinator. A 504 Plan helps a child with special health care needs to fully participate in schools, listing accommodations such as the need for assistive technology or wheelchair accessibility, that enable integration into the general classroom setting.
