Arlington Bilingual Education Group Urging Supporters to Attend Tonight's School Committee Meeting

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the School Committee Room on the sixth floor of Arlington High School.

Today is Thursday, Dec. 6. Here are five things you need to know:

1.) The Arlington Bilingual Education Advocacy Group, a group of parents, educators and community members who are working together to bring foreign language and immersion to Arlington at the elementary-school level, are urging supporters to attend tonight’s School Committee meeting, which starts at 6:30 p.m. in the School Committee Room on the sixth floor of Arlington High School. The group would like to see a pilot immersion program begin next fall. For more on the group and its mission, see its Facebook page. School Committee member Paul Schlichtman gave his thoughts on the issue in a recent blog post. A discussion of principals and department heads budget priorities for next school year is also on the School Committee’s agenda.

2.) Shop at Batiz from 6-8 p.m. this evening and enjoy some complementary wine. Not familiar with what Batiz has to offer? Check out “10 Gift Ideas at Batiz” (it’s all photos, so you don’t even have to read!).

3.) It’s Thursday which means that Henry Bear’s Park has drop-in story time at 11 a.m.

4.) Did you know Groupon has a deal for Blue Ribbon BBQ right now? Check it out!

5.) Today should be sunny with a high near 40, according to the National Weather Service.
