There is a big beef between cyclists and motorists in this town lately over the organization of Mass Ave. Should there be 2 lanes or 4 lanes? Should there be a bike lane? The debate goes back and forth. But have no fear, people. Compromise has come. The solution is easy.
I propose the building of the Arlington Arch! (Or we could call it the Menotomy Bridge, or the Revolution Overpass, or Minuteman Viaduct. We’ll figure that part out later.) This awesome skyway would shoot into the air and stretch all the way across the intersection of Mass Ave and Pleasant St, roughly Coldwell Banker to Jam N Java.

Just imagine! Safety would be effortless. Auto traffic would flow so smoothly without that annoying red turn arrow. And bikers could blow by at full blast, no stopping, shattering old commute speed records.

Once built the structure could also mark Arlington on the map. The design pictured here is rather conservative, but built with flair, the structure may become a tourist destination.
To help pay for its construction, ads could cover the arch. Or taxpayers could foot the bill, and the bridge could be used as an artists’ canvas.
And Arlington would be a brighter, happier place for all. Just an idea, folks. May the malevolent commentary begin.
