Who are the teachers?

    Anne and Christy Robinson provide formal private instruction in Classical piano performance from their home in Arlington, MA. They also offer additional tutoring in music theory, ear training, and music history. Their students perform annually in the Robinson Studios Recital as well as participate in local auditions, performances, and competitions.

    Christy is currently a senior in Piano Performance at Longy School of Music of Bard College and Emerson College. She has four years of teaching experience and specializes in pre-K through 8th grade.

    Anne received her B.M. in Piano Performance from the University of Missouri-Columbia, her M.M. from The Boston Conservatory and is currently pursuing a second graduate degree from The Boston Conservatory. She has seven years of teaching experience with children and adults of all levels.

What’s expected of the students?

    All students are expected to practice daily for an agreed length of time. This, of course, varies with levels and abilities. A five year old beginning student may be expected to practice ten minutes every day, whereas an adult student working on a Mozart sonata might  practice daily for about forty-five minutes.

What’s expected of the parents of young students?

    Parents are expected to attend the first few lessons of a beginning young student so that they can monitor effective practicing habits at home.

What are the lesson and payment plans?

    We offer twice a week lessons, weekly lesson, or bi-weekly lessons of 30 minutes or 60 minutes. Payment plans are created for each student; usual agreements are monthly payments but we are very open to creating a schedule that’s right for you. What if I need to cancel a lesson?

    Any lessons canceled at least twenty-four hours in advance will be rescheduled at the mutual convenience of student and teacher. Cancellations made less than twenty-four hours in advance will not be refunded or rescheduled. Cancellations made less than twenty-four hours in advance due to illness or emergency will either be refunded or rescheduled.
