Piano Teaching Philosophy

Every pedagogue has a focus, a conviction, a driving passion behind what they do. As sisters growing up together and making music together we believe that music is at it's richest when it happens with someone else.

No one wants to perform to an empty concert hall. No artist records her music only for herself. Music is a shared reality, a communal expression of the things we care about as human beings -- this is why music crosses boundaries, reaches those we find different from ourselves, and is mutually understood.

The Robinson Studios Piano Teaching Philosophy is very simple and very complex:

To make music.

Scales are not enough. Harmony is not enough. Hand strength is not enough. Technical prowess is not enough. We aim to develop artists. We make music in the very first lesson... before we do anything else.
This method is an eclectic and highly individualized approach, carefully considering the strengths and weakness, the habits and practice, of each student. For example, some students learn best kinesthetically and so it's up to the teacher to tailor her instructional approach kinesthetically.
