Selectmen Take Moment of Silence for Dr. Michael T. Foley

Foley will be laid to rest Tuesday morning in Cambridge.

At the request of Selectman Kevin Greeley, the board took a moment of silence Monday for Dr. Michael T. Foley, who died last Wednesday.

Greeley was a classmate of Foley’s at Arlington Catholic High School, where Foley was a three-sport captain, class president and the top student in the class, according to Greeley.

Later, Foley, who was the one-time president of Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital Medical Staff, volunteer with local football teams and fought to keep Symmes Hospital open.

Foley was also a long-standing trustee of the UMass System and an internal medicine consultant and physician in attendance for the Boston Red Sox.

Foley’s funeral mass is at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in Saint Agnes Church, 30 Medford St., with a burial in Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge.
