Town Manager Selected

Board of Selectmen chooses Deputy Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine to replace Brian Sullivan as town manager.

Deputy Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine will become Arlington's next town manager, the decided Monday.

Chapdelaine was up against Ashland Town Manager John Petrin. Both received high compliments from the board, which voted unanimously to hire Chapdelaine.

The  were vying to replace , who is set to retire in February.

About Adam W. Chapdelaine

Adam Chapdelaine has 10 years of government experience and has been the Arlington deputy town manager for approximately two years. Prior to working for Arlington, Chapdelaine was the city administrator for Fall River, Massachusetts. He served as the director of community services and chairperson of the Board of Elections prior to his appointment as city administrator in Fall River.

He has also worked for the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board and served for a number of years as deputy chief of staff for budget and constituent services for the office of the Majority Whip in the Massachusetts State Senate. He has also served as a legislative aide for the Office of the Majority Whip.

Chapdelaine holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Business Administration Degree. He is a member of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association and the Massachusetts Government Finance Officers Association.
