Elizabeth Warren Wins U.S. Senate Seat in Massachusetts

Democratic challenger Elizabeth Warren has beaten incumbent Republican candidate Scott Brown for a seat on the U.S. Senate, according to the Associated Press.

Democrat U.S. Congressman Ed Markey will serve a 19th term in Washington.

Markey led Republican challenger Tom Tierney 75 percent to 25 percent with 41 percent of precincts reporting, according to Boston.com, which had called the race by 9:45 p.m. Markey's seat has traditionally been for the 7th District of Massachusetts, but that changed with redistricting last year.

State Sen. Ken Donnelly, D-Arlington, has been re-elected by district voters to continue to represent the Fourth Middlesex District based on the towns that have reported thus far. 

Rogers Win State Rep Race Big; Romney Loses Hometown to Obama

Cambridge resident Dave Rogers claimed a decisive victory to become the next State Representative of the 24th Middlesex District on Beacon Hill after soundly defeating two Belmont residents in Tuesday's General Election.

The business attorney, who ran on his willingness to be an independent voice despite party affiliation, won nearly 50 percent of Belmont voters while trouncing Independent Jim Gammill and Republican Tomi Olson in the Arlington and Cambridge precincts.

State Rep. Sean Garballey won his bid for re-election in the 23rd Middlesex District Tuesday, defeating Republican challenger Joe Monju by more than a 4-to-1 margin.

The 27-year-old incumbent Democrat received 81.30 percent of the vote, or 18,918 votes. Monju, a first-time candidate, took in 18.70 percent, or 4,351.

Arlington Updates From The Polls

1:50 p.m.: Now hearing that Arlington hasn't given out "I voted" stickers in the past -- residents seem to want them based on what I've heard.

1:38 p.m.: I'm hearing that there are no "I voted" stickers at Arlington polls; have you seen this to be the case? If you would like to print your own, go to Slate.com.

1:30 p.m.: No lines at Town Hall, precincts 8 and 10. Voter turnout at precinct 8 was 815, at precinct 10, 845.

12:40 a.m.: I'm not seeing reports of too long of lines in Arlington, but still good turnout. State representative candidates Tomi Olson and Dave Rogers were at the Beech Street Center in Belmont this morning where at least a few hundred people showed up to see Mitt Romney enter the polls. Rogers said it's exciting to be a part of. He said he was planning to vote around 11 a.m. in Cambridge. There's also a bake sale at the Bishop School, precincts 5 and 11.
