Woman Struck by Vehicle in Arlington Center

The woman was not in a crosswalk, according to police.

A woman was crossing Mass. Ave. in Arlington Center on Saturday afternoon when she was struck by a vehicle.

The crash occurred at about 2:45 p.m. The woman was crossing Mass. Ave. in front of the Town Hall gardens and was not in a crosswalk, according to police.

The driver told police that she was traveling eastbound (toward Cambridge) in the left lane when she hit the woman. She said she was driving at a “slow” rate of speed, as she was braking for stopped traffic in front of her.

A vehicle to her right stopped for the pedestrian, police said. The driver said she did not see the pedestrian before she hit her.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
