Woman Struck by Car in Bates Road Crosswalk on Halloween Evening

The crash was the fourth one in Arlington involving a pedestrian or bicyclist in the last week.

A woman was crossing Bates Road in the crosswalk at Mass. Ave. on Halloween evening when she was hit by a car.

The car was taking a left turn from Mass. Ave. onto Bates Road at about 7:50 p.m. Thursday and traveling at roughly 10 mph, according to police. The driver was cited for failing to yield for a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.

The woman, who was wearing a black jacket and black pants, was transported to Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge with unknown injuries, according to police.

Police said the area was poorly lit and bushes and street signs on the island in the middle of Bates Road may have obstructed the driver’s view.
