Why Will a Police Dive Team be in Spy Pond Thursday?

If you see a police dive team in Spy Pond Thursday morning, don’t be alarmed – police are just searching for a shotgun that was allegedly thrown into the water.
The shotgun is connected to an ongoing drug investigation, according to police. In May, a police dive team searched the Mystic River, near the River Street Bridge, for the weapon without any luck.
The dive team, from the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council, will begin searching Spy Pond at about 8 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, near the Hamilton Road condos.
