Waltham Man Allegedly Crashes Car on Park Avenue While Drunk
A 23-year-old Waltham man allegedly crashed his car on Park Avenue, at the Concord Turnpike, while drunk early Sunday morning.
Andrew D. Roussinos was arrested for operating under the influence, first offense, shortly after the crash, which took place at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday.
Roussinos told Arlington Police that he had been texting when he drove over an island on Park Avenue and then struck a curb. The airbag on Roussinos’ blue Ford sedan deployed during the crash, police said.
Roussinos was the only occupant in the car, and he was not injured.
An Arlington officer detected a slight odor of alcohol on Roussinos, according to the police report. Roussinos told police that he had consumed six drinks in Boston that night before taking a cab to a friend’s house where his car was and then driving home, police said. He said he had consumed his last drink about an hour before the crash, police said.
Roussinos failed a field sobriety test at the scene, according to police. He refused a breathalyzer.
In addition to the OUI charge, Roussinos was cited for texting behind the wheel and a marked lanes violation, according to the report.
